On January 6, 2012, Houston authorities say part of Beltway 8 was forced to close after an 18-wheeler accident. Sources say the accident happened in the westbound lane North Beltway 8 at JFK Boulevard. According to the trucking company involved, an 18-wheeler pulling two trailers was sideswiped by a car which caused the trailer to jackknife. Further, officials say the truck hit the center lane lighting system, so power was turned off in the area.
