Austin Drag Race Wreck Kills 1 and Injures 2 Others

On Saturday, February 6, 2011, an afternoon drag race left one man dead and two others injured in Austin, Texas. Local authorities say two drivers were racing their Ford Mustangs at high speeds on Highway 183 South, when one of the Mustangs collided with a Jeep which was trying to turn on the highway. The driver of this Mustang died and his passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The local authorities are still searching for the driver of the other Mustang who failed to stop after the accident occurred. This Mustang is yellow with rims.

The wreck shutdown traffic on Highway 183 South for about two hours. Motorists were then diverted to side streets or on to Hwy 183 North.
