Child Dies After Fort Bend Rollover Car Wreck

On April 19, 2011, Fort Bend County officials said a woman driving with four children lost control of her vehicle causing a rollover crash and the death of one child. Reportedly, the woman was driving the children to school when she thought she heard one of them choking.  Authorities said the vehicle then went off road, hit a guard rail and tree, and then rolled over next to the northbound lanes on the Fort Bend County Toll Road.

Reportedly, one of the children was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.  Investigators said there were no child safety seats inside the vehicle.  Authorities say the other passengers in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Reportedly, Fort Bend authorities are currently investigating a possible seat belt malfunction.

According to reports, the north bound lanes of the toll road were closed while the crash was investigated.
