The crashes occurred on the first weekend of Spring Break, which often sees an increase in traffic and accidents on the state’s major highways. In Corpus Christi, one person died when an 18 wheeler struck a sedan as it crossed an intersection. Two tractor trailers were involved in a potentially fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident near Austin. A Tyler woman also died in a head-on collision with a big rig in Tyler County.

A driver was hospitalized and his passenger was killed as a result of a fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident near Corpus Christi. Police reports showed that the blue sedan involved in a fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident was crossing Up River Road when the big rig struck it on the passenger side. The tractor trailer also reportedly dragged the sedan another 30 yards before the truck driver realized he had struck the car. The sedan driver was listed in critical condition. The passenger died at the scene.

Austin Texas 18 Wheeler Accident

A potentially fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident near Austin involved two large trucks and closed down part of a major freeway for several hours Monday morning. The Texas 18 wheeler accident occurred on Interstate 35 near the William Cannon Drive exit. A tractor trailer driver struck another rig that stalled out on the freeway. The driver of the stalled truck was not hurt. The driver of the second rig was trapped in his cab for more than 45 minutes. He was later transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge and placed in critical condition.

Tyler County Fatal Texas 18 Wheeler Accident

A woman in Tyler County died in a fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident last week. The fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident happened on U.S. 69 early Wednesday morning. A tractor trailer rig was moving southbound on the freeway when the driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt moved from the northbound lanes into oncoming traffic. The Cobalt’s driver tried to avoid the collision, but struck the big rig head-on. Local officials pronounced her dead at the scene.
