Harris Co. Deputy Rear-Ends 18-Wheeler

On March 9, 2011, authorities say a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy was injured after rear-ending an 18-wheeler in northeast Harris County. Reportedly, the deputy was speeding westbound on North Belt at JFK Blvd when he crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler traveling at a normal speed. Authorities say the deputy was rushing to help another officer on call but reportedly did not have on his emergency lights or sirens.

Reportedly, the deputy was trapped in his vehicle for over an hour before the Eastex Volunteer Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free him. Reports state the deputy was transported to the hospital with two broken legs and is expected to recover.
