Houston Driver Crashes into State Trooper After Drinking

On March 13, 2011, sources say a woman driving a pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into a DPS officer outside of Houston. Reportedly, DPS officer Justin Duck was issuing a citation during a routine traffic stop on Kickapoo Road near the Northwest Freeway when the collision occurred.

According to reports, Trooper John Sampa said, “the suspect was traveling at a high rate of speed, to the point that the trooper’s car back trunk was pushed all the way to the front seat. He actually had to be cut out of the vehicle.” Detectives say the woman was on the way home from the rodeo and admitted to drinking. Officials say she refused to take a breathalyzer at the scene so she was given a mandatory blood test.

Reportedly, Trooper Duck was taken to the hospital in critical condition and he was alert the following day. However, Trooper Duck does not remember being hit. Sources say he suffered a broken nose and needed stitches on his face.
