An early-morning Texas 18 wheeler accident left the driver of a pickup truck dead and the tractor-trailer driver injured. A tanker truck carrying a load of kerosene was traveling westbound on Highway 7 near Chilton. A pickup truck moving northbound on Highway 77 struck the tanker truck’s rear wheels, causing the larger truck to spill its diesel fuel. The Texas 18 wheeler accident caused the tanker truck to roll into a ditch, but its load of kerosene did not catch fire. The smaller truck caught fire from the tanker truck’s diesel fuel and the driver died at the scene.

Houston Texas 18 Wheeler Accident Shuts Down Freeway

Another fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident closed down a major Houston freeway for five hours. A tractor trailer rig collided with a passenger car near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Campbell Road Monday evening. The Texas 18 wheeler accident caused the car to catch fire. Authorities have reported that at least one person in the car died at the scene. However, police have not released the names of the victims or that of the 18 wheeler driver. Westbound traffic on the interstate was closed from 7 pm until 11:44 pm Monday night.

Sleeping Driver Causes Harlingen Texas 18 Wheeler Accident

A driver who reportedly fell asleep at the wheel has been blamed for a fatal Texas 18 wheeler accident near Harlingen. A report from the Texas Department of Public Safety showed that a tractor trailer rig was traveling southbound on U.S. Expressway 77 early Monday morning. The DPS report showed that the rig rear-ended a Nissan Altima passenger car just north of Business 77. The investigation into the Texas 18 wheeler accident revealed that the rig barreled across the median and came to rest on its side. The Altima driver was transported to a local medical facility and listed in serious condition.

The DPS investigation found that one of the trucks involved in the Texas 18 wheeler accident had an estimated clearance of 14 feet, seven inches. The bridge underpass where the accident occurred had a listed clearance of 13 feet, six inches. The truck damaged the bridge’s concrete support beams. The beams then damaged several other vehicles, including another tractor trailer, and caused the driver to suffer serious injuries.
