Midland-Volkswagon and Dump Truck Involved in Head on Car Wreck

On Saturday, February 5, 2011, three children and two adults died after a Volkswagen Beetle was involved in a head-on collision with a dump truck. Reportedly, all four people in the Volkswagen died on impact. The collision took place on Texas Farm Road 1788, about five miles north of Midland, Texas.

The DPS trooper who responded to the accident scene stated the dump truck driver was apparently killed in the ensuing flames. He was able to speak with his wife in the moments after the collision, but was unable to escape the truck. The children involved were 8 years old, 3 years old and 2 years old. Law enforcement confirmed all parties involved were wearing seat belts.
