Oil Truck Wreck Causes Fatality and Severe Inferno

On February 18, 2013, sources say that the driver of an 18-wheeler carrying crude oil was killed after in truck flipped on a section of U.S. Highway 90A at FM 2091 near Gonzales (Greenwood Hills Road) which was slick from the rain.. Authorities say that after the truck flipped it then burst into flames.

The accident caused an fire fueled by the cargo of the truck. Texas Department of Public Safety, Gonzales County Sheriff’s Dept., Gonzales County Rescue/EMS, Gonzales Fire Department, Belmont Volunteer Fire Department and Ottine Volunteer Fire Department were among those called to battle the flames. Gonzales police closed 90A at U.S. Highway 183 to westbound traffic and Belmont authorities turned back 90A eastbound traffic.
